Juliet Marie Russo

“The person I am now…I don’t know her. She’s outspoken and strong. Confident in a way that I never thought I could be, but at the end of the day, I know that I don’t want to be someone people write stories about. I love having an ability and being a part of this world with all of you, but I’m not sure I can be the Empower you all want.”

BACKGROUND

Around the time she was 12, she started rapidly developing her ability. Phones would fry, power would go out, or electrical outlets would send out shocks when she passed. She had no idea what was going on and it was driving a wedge between her parents. Her mother and father would fight constantly because her father was always at work and never home.

One night, her parents got into their biggest fight yet. Her mother stormed out of the house, intent on going for a drive to calm down, and was in a fatal car crash. From then on, Juliet stepped up to take care of Aubrey, her baby sister, since her father remained distant and uncaring.

Growing up, she did whatever she had to do for Aubrey; fed her, took her to school, helped her with her homework, and studied what her father asked of her for a “good life”. She felt trapped and imprisoned within her own existence, all the while her ability growing stronger and stronger.

In high school, she became best friends with a sassy Japanese-Korean-American named Kora Adams, who befriended instantly. Together, the three of them created a makeshift family of themselves. Kora adored Aubrey as much as she adored Jules.

Until Wildfire came.

“I don’t know who this version of me is. I spent so much of my life in the shadows, the backdrop, and I was okay with that. I just wanted my sister safe and happy, but now… I loathe the idea of returning to that house and burying myself.”
